About

Our story began with a passion to integrate mental heath and performing arts, enabling artists to make meaningful art from a healthy place.

From the beginning of time human beings have created art to express themselves, illuminate culture and entertain communities.

Performing is a rewarding pursuit where actors give themselves physically and emotionally to each project.

There are important stories to be told in our cultural moment and many include experiences that are sensitive and intense. Because we have a shared humanity, many of us have had similar experiences in our own lives.

Be Well Act Well exists to support actors and production teams to tell stories from an emotionally healthy place while wrestling with difficult content.

Be Well Act Well equips and empowers performing artists to create meaningful art

Courtney Loosemore, Founder and Director, is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the St Louis area who specializes in trauma therapy and has a passion for the performing arts.

Throughout her practice, Courtney has sat with people who are celebrating and mourning, wrestling with harm done to them and harm inflicted on others, asking big life questions and being present in everyday experiences. Our art reflects real life and often bumps up against our own human experiences.

As a former performer, Courtney has experienced the positive impact the arts has on individuals and communities as well as the toll it takes for artists to hone their craft and continue telling important stories that hit close to home.

Be Well Act Well desires to engage production teams and individual artists to empower their storytelling to take place in a genuine and healthy way.
